Colourful Summer Planting
The above planting was designed with colour and movement in mind. The pennisetum setaceum ‘Rubrum’ (purple fountain grass) adds movement and colour. The large leaves of the Ipomoea batatas "Margarita (lime potato vine) contrast nicely with the smaller leaves of the calibrachoa(million bells), begonias and wave petunias. The hydrangea 'Madja' adds structure to bring the planters together.
Shade Planter
This planter was designed with a combination of Athyrium niponicum
(Japanese painted fern) and heuchera 'Stormy seas' (coral bells) .The colourful plants and the chartreuse planter add the much needed color to a shady area of the garden.
Succulent Planter
This planter created for a sunny position was comprised of Sempervivum 'Bronze pastel' (sedums) and Lewisia cotyledon. It was placed by a pond in a sunny position to add interest and colour.
Perennial Planter
This planter was created with perennials so that it would live for more than one year. The plants utilized were Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens' (black mondo grass), Zantedeschia aethiopica (white calla lily) and carex "Evergold" The evergreen grasses will create interest throughout the year. The calla lily creates a great focal point and will reemerge each spring fuller and larger with a lovely display of white flowers.
